Monthly Archives: November 2012

The Holidays are again upon us!  To celebrate another great year at Alyson Pond, we are inviting everyone to decorate their homes. Feel free to be festive and share the joy of the season with your neighbors.

The Architectural Committee has decided that the best decorated house will be recognized as December Yard of the Month.

We will suspend our usual judging categories of green lawn, pruned shrubs, seasonal flowers and mulched beds for bright lights, originality, color, whimsy, classical elegance…you name it. Bring your ‘A’ game and delight us all.

Judging will be performed Friday evening, December 14, 2012.  Yard of the Month will be awarded the following day.

November Yard of the Month

1st Place – 8504 Wheeling

Yard of the Month for November is awarded to  Jonathan and Gina Kinlaw of 8504 Wheeling.  A third-place winner this time last year, their home shows consistent improvement.  Bright and colorful seasonal flowers and the newly aerated and seeded lawn show off the home to best advantage.

Finishing a close second is Harrell and Susan Queen of 2816 Coxindale.  Attention to the lawn is evident and the overall impression is a well-kept, clean appearance.  This is the first time the Queens have finished in the top three.

2nd Place – 2816 Coxindale

Finishing third is Carey Bitterfield of 8524 Yucca.  Carey is no stranger to the top three, having finished there three times last year.  Her home has take on a fresh look with the removal of several trees.

Congratulations to the homeowners and thanks to Larry Deckard, Jen Magee and Paul Martin  who served on the judging panel.

Next month Yard of the Month will be awarded to the home with the best Holiday decorations.
